The Usher
Linda D. Bowman, Oxon Hill, MD
Catagory: Volume 3
The usher is a servant
Who keeps watch upon the door
He has been given the duty
To serve God forever more
The usher is a servant
Who conveys the sense
That God is already here
And we already feel His presence
The usher is a servant
Who is always courteous and alert
He is prepared for any duty
While serving in God’s church
The usher is a servant
Who is always at his post
He is the greeter of the people
And God’s official host
The usher is a servant
Who is always on the job
He is always performing a service
To those who have come to serve God
That is why I usher
And put great faith upon my job
Because I would rather be a doorkeeper
In the house of my God
For a day in thy courts [is] better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness, Psalm 84:10.
