Prayer Changes Things

Rev. Gary West, Havelock, NC

Catagory: Volume 2, Issue 3 and 4 March/April 2000

We come unto you, Father God, with thanksgiving for all that you have done.  Lord, we thank you for being our all-in-all, knowing that we like sheep have gone astray, each going his own way, doing what we thought to be right.  We pray Lord for forgiveness of our faults, unclean and unrighteous ways of thinking, as well as living ungodly lives.  Have mercy on us, Father God, unto you we pray.  Lord God, search the deep places of our being; look at the intents of our hearts, weigh the thoughts in our minds, Lord, as Thou has so many times created in us a desire to be pleasing in thy sight.  Lord God Almighty.

We come before thy throne with thanksgiving in our hearts and praises in our mouths, rejoicing in the Lord, with a holy song in our hearts, with words that can only be heard by you Lord God.  Only You yourself knows what music is needed for the song of our hearts.

Father, we all have searched various ways, tried a multitude of things, went places physically, as well as mentally, and were still lost and without until we came unto You just as we were.  You, Lord God, took each of us in the form of our own ways and showed your ways.  You looked far beyond our faults, took us up and out of our sinful demise, and made us another vessel again of what you had so deemed us to be from the beginning.

We thank you Lord for being compassionate, loving, kind, as well as longsuffering, towards us.

We praise you for all that You do by allowing us to be moldable and pliable creatures of clay.  Lord, we surrender as well as submit our hearts, souls, and bodies unto you n the name of Jesus Christ, that we may ever always and in all things give thanks unto you, our Lord and Savior.

Thanking you Lord, for small and insignificant things that we often forget to give thanks for.  Thanking you for the time and pleasures you have given when we were lonely; not understanding these were the times of remaking us to be what you willed us to be in the beginning.  Sharing of precious moments alone with Thee when despair had been the vehicle that carried us into the turbulent seas of disaster; where the end seemed to be nothing but doom and gloom; one had done all he could and it seemed as if every effort was failure giving up all of our ways until all we were, all we knew, all we had been was gone.  This is the point we must seek in the putting off of the old man in order that we can receive the new man as we become the new creature that Christ redeemed unto Father by the shedding of His blood at Calvary.  Remember, vehicles such as disaster, death, and destruction are used to renew, to enhance, as well as to bring us nearer unto the Lord God Almighty.  As likened unto any other vehicle disaster, death, and destruction can unto us bring one thing as man sees it, leaving us with another view as God has so ordained it to be praise for His goodness.  Sing unto him that His joy will ever be your strength and salvation.

Glorify God in all that we do, thanking Him that we can be delightful unto Him in His good pleasure.  To God be the glory.  To God be the praise.  To God be thanksgivings.  Hopefully, we will be the creatures that He made us to be.  Let not rocks nor stones cry out for you.  Praise God for yourselves with acts, adorations, confessions, thanksgivings and salvation.  All in the name of Jesus we pray.
