GRACE OF HUMILITY

SIN OF PRIDE

Philippians 2:5-11  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;  And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Daniel 5:20  But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

Luke 18:10 14  Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.  The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.  I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.  And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.  Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;  Matthew 5:45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Proverbs 6:16-19 These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him:

  1. 1.       A proud look,
  2. 2.       a lying tongue, and
  3. 3.       hands that shed innocent blood,
  4. 4.       An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
  5. 5.       feet that be swift in running to mischief,
  6. 6.       A false witness [that] speaketh lies,
  7. 7.        And he that soweth discord among brethren.

Galatians 5:17-18  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Galatians 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is

  • Love, Joy,
  • Peace, Longsuffering,
  • Gentleness, Goodness,
  • Faith, Meekness,
  • ·         Temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these];

  • Adultery, Fornication, Uncleanness, Lasciviousness,
  • Idolatry, Witchcraft, Hatred, Variance, Emulations,
  • Wrath, Strife, Seditions, Heresies, Envyings,
  • Murders, Drunkenness, Revellings,
