On December 11, 1999, I departed Roanoke Theological Seminary to go home. While in route, approximately 15 miles from my house, I became very sleepy. My sport utility vehicle drifted over onto the left hand side of the highway toward approaching traffic and was heading into a ditch. I suddenly awakened and quickly turned the steering wheel to the right. My vehicle overturned flipped 3 times and it hit 5 trees. While this was happening the Lord Spoke to me, saying“Shirley go with the truck, go with the truck”. I knew that I had to yield and trust God and let my body go with the truck. Even though I was not wearing a seat belt, I felt a supernatural comforting come over me.
Then I asked the Lord to please make it stop and the truck immediately landed on its’ right side and my body was laying against the passenger door. I was completely coherent and relaxed, and I could hear a man’s voice saying get her out.
Then a lady looked into the vehicle from the top of the driver’s door. She said "I am a nurse, I'm going to check your vital signs". While she was checking my vital signs and reading off numbers, she never touched my body nor did she have any medical equipment neither did she reach inside of the vehicle. Next, she comforted me with conversation.
I could only see her eyes, hair and forehead. Also there was another lady standing beside her. She said "Mrs. Johnson, here comes the rescue squad, I have to go, but you are going to be OK". Then the paramedics pulled me out through the sunroof. While on the stretcher, I looked for the lady that helped me, but she was gone. The next day I asked a witness to the accident the identify of the lady (the nurse) who was standing beside her at the scene of the accident? She said what lady? There was no one standing beside me. What did she look like? Then it dawned on me, why would a nurse leave the scene of an accident prior to consulting with the paramedics. The lady was an Angel. I walked away from the accident with no injuries. On December 18, 1999, I was ordained. Praise the Lord.
