Friends Forever
Gwendolyn Hall, Fort Washington, MD
Catagory: Volume 3
Friends meet and friends greet,
Friends say, “How do you do?”
Friends hug and friends kiss,
Friends say, “I love you too”.
How can I know that you are my friend?
So loving, so wonderful and true,
Will you always be this way
In all the kindness that you do?
There are many things I know,
That would bind us together, you see.
Only sincerity of heart
Can prove your loyalty.
So come to me and hold my hand
And look into my eyes.
Make me a solemn promise
That you are not in disguise.
Your love for me is true and pure.
The facts are plain and clear.
You are my friend forever
And I’ll always love you, my dear.
God made me and God made you
Male and female, it’s true.
Let’s join our hearts as one in love
And pledge to say “I do.”
There is nothing more dear than two in love,
Living and loving as sweethearts.
We’ll always share our marriage vows
“Til death do us part.”
Marriage is pleasing to God
And the bed is undefiled.
He will bless us and prosper us
And take us through every trial.
A new beginning for us to explore
Together we’ll take it in strides,
To do all things God’s way, And live holy lives.
And live holy lives.
God grant us grace and mercy,
Confidence and steadfast love.
In holy matrimony, I pray.
May this union never fail,
But grow sweeter and sweeter every day.
