Come down Holy Spirit
Into our church today
We need your eternal touch
To show us the way
People are going hungry
And sleeping on the streets
Hurting and abandoned
And the church within a few feet
The church is only the building
The container for bickering and greed
Backbiting, chaos and confusion
And Christians constantly in need
The pastors are in the pulpit
Throwing slams instead of the Word
They’re afraid to go in the community
Afraid to let their voices be heard
The church is headed in different directions
And the pastors are the ones to tell
That God is not pleased with this picture
For the church is being led straight to hell
Please come now Holy Spirit
To prepare us to meet with our Lord
The body of Christ must be waiting
We must be ready and of one accord
Come down Holy Spirit
