Beyond The Promise

God has called man to salvation through redemption of sin, reconciling us to righteous standing with Him, that we may have eternal life.
God, knowing salvation was not enough, sent the Holy Spirit, endowing us with power to maintain salvation and enabling us to reach higher levels of excellence in Christ.
There will always be those Christians who are content to be saved, knowing that through salvation, they have received the promise of eternal life. They are secure and content that they are heaven bound. Deceived, these Christians miss God’s purpose and do not receive the benefit of abundant life. They never reach their full potential which God had for their lives.
In the natural realm, a child is born equipped mentally and physically to function in all aspects of life. However, capability without realization in meaningless.
The same principle applies to our spirit man. God has not only given us heaven through salvation, but He has made the Holy Spirit available to us in order to live in victory.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth, Acts 1:8.
We deprive ourselves of the abundant life in Christ when our vision and concept of Christianity are built primarily on the promise of eternal life. We become ineffective, visionless Christians who fall into a state of complacency.
Complacency is a dangerous place in which to live. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord [is], Ephesians 5:16-17.
God wants us on fire and filled with the Holy Spirit. We must be completely surrendered and totally committed to the Will of God.
I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily, 1 Corinthians 15:31.
As Christians we cannot afford to sit on the bleachers marking time. We must step onto the field and participate. We must strive to go beyond the promise of eternal life and step out of ourselves and into our destiny.
These are perilous times with sin running rampant. We must steadfastly pursue the things of Christ, assured of the promise of eternal life. In victory we can say, “I fought the good fight. I have finished my course!”
